The first IIM in India, IIM Calcutta was established in 1961. IIM Calcutta is triple crowned with International Accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS and is the first B-school to get this recognition. It is also the only business school in India which is a part of the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education. In 2017 Government of India recognized IIM Calcutta as an Institute of National Importance.

This year’s placements at IIM Calcutta saw the participation of many first-time recruiters like Jio Financial Services, Hero Fincorp, Yubi, Sobha Realty, Sirius AI, Husk Power Systems and DMI Finance. Highest domestic salary was Rs.1.2 crore. IIM Calcutta has not released the average salary for the batch in final placements 2024.
IIM Calcutta offers flagship two-year full-time MBA; two year full time PGDBA; one-year full-time MBA Executive; One year full time PGPEX-VLM; One year CEMS MIM; Doctoral PhD programme in Management among other management programmes like Executive Programme in Health Care Management; Advanced Programme in Digital Business Leadership among other executive and customised executive programmes. Admission to flagship MBA programme is through CAT exam and for other exams different admission criteria and eligibility criteria are followed.
The main campus of IIM Calcutta, covering 135 acres, is located in Joka, on the outskirts of Kolkata. The institute moved to its present campus in 1975. In December 2019, the institute sent a request to the state government seeking land to build another campus in New Town Kolkata. IIMC campus is well equipped with all facilities.

Admissions
Admission Process for Candidates for MBA at IIM Calcutta is through CAT. The admission of the candidates for admission to the MBA at IIM Calcutta is a two-step process:
In the first step, candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. Detailed Admission process is as below:
- The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required percentile in CAT. Candidates are short-listed for PI round which is conducted in many cities
- Candidates are shortlisted from among the candidates who have a valid CAT score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme
- After the PI round, IIM Calcutta will award weightages to various parameters and admission offers are made by IIM Calcutta to successful candidates.
- The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in PI round, academics, diversity, work experience among others
How to Apply
- For IIM Calcutta MBA admission, the applicant should Register and apply for CAT exam by paying the requisite application fee for the exam.
- On the page 4 of CAT application form, you need to select IIM Calcutta MBA and other programs and select the interview city.
- Your application for IIM Calcutta admission is submitted.
- You do not need to apply and pay separately for IIM Calcutta Admission.
- After declaration of CAT exam result, you can check at IIM Calcutta website whether you are shortlisted by entering your CAT registration ID and password
Selection Process
- All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to IIM Calcutta
- For the candidates who have appeared in PI-WAT round, a composite score for final selection will be derived using the parameters and the corresponding weights as given below. This composite score will be used for preparation of category-wise merit list for final selection.
